To Inspire and be Inspired…
I have been working as a professional digital designer for over 8 years in many different areas. My background in graphics has enabled me to go into many contrasting fields. They have ranged from Fashion, Toy Design, Packaging, Product, Map, Financial, Architectural, Education and the Food industry. I was able to provide assistance within these various fields in many digital formats. First and foremost, I love to draw so it was only natural that I would lean towards Print design once I started working in digital format. My second love of moving images came in the digital form of Video and Animation. Finally, my interests in interactivity lead me to dive into the web aspect of digital technology. Although technology has become vastly easy to use to the common person, you still need to put in effort every day towards learning since technology continuously advances itself at a constant rate.
I believe education is not only a key to a successful life, but the main element in finding who you are as a person. As a native New Yorker, both growing up and living here, there is never a shortage of inspiration. The confidence I have within my work is greatly due to the education I received. Since attending different schools myself I have noticed that each technique and style I have been surrounded by has influenced my personal style.
I have always believed that the more knowledgeable and open minded you are in any given area the more input and better informed opinion you will be able to make. In terms of digital design – that might be the difference of coming up with something that has already been done or a fresh innovative idea that has never been brought to the table. Information, in this age of digital technology is essential to how we communicate with each other. I see graphics and digital technology being an important tool for people to communicate different ideas to each other. With the advent of the internet it would be wasteful not to learn how to use these technologies around us to our benefit.
I can only hope that I will be able to give something back to another person pursuing the same path I started on. The knowledge and the connections I have received from being in a learning environment is priceless. |
